EXECUTIVE CHEF

Chef Hector Leyva

Chef Héctor Leyva is a travel lover and Mexican cuisine adventurer. Born in the culturally rich and diverse state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Leyva discovered a passion for cooking that led him to complete his studies at the Culinary Institute of Mexico. He then went on to explore many areas of gastronomy, combining classic and pre-Hispanic Mexican mainstays with European, American and Asian influences.

Leyva has experienced the many regions of Mexican cuisine, living in different cities from the Gulf to Pacific coasts—Los Cabos to San Miguel de Allende, Puebla to Queretaro, and finally, Puerto Vallarta. But his travels extend far beyond his home country, including many global stops along his journeys like Four Seasons, Belmond, and The world residences at Sea, to mention some, to finally open his restaurants, Hector’s Kitchen and Zicatela, in Punta Mita.

Leyva takes pride in fusing quality, local ingredients that make effortless combinations with hints of creativity from a life dedicated to the culinary art.
